В качестве иллюминатов эта традиция называет и Леонардо да Винчи, и Галилео Галилея, и Николая Коперника, и даже Исаака Ньютона. Об этом можно прочесть, к примеру, в недавно переведенной на русский язык книге французского журналиста Этьена Кассе «Фальсифицированная история». Иногда можно встретить утверждения, что этот секретный орден ученых, хранящих тайные знания от простых смертных, существовал еще во времена античности, и многие известные и поныне столпы древнегреческой мудрости входили в его ряды.
Ангел Апокалипсиса
Как о близком или даже тождественном иллюминатам обществе специалисты говорят и о так называемых филадельфах. Впервые они появились в самом начале XIV века во Франции, когда некий Гийяр де Крессонессар провозгласил себя «ангелом Филадельфийской церкви», о которой идет речь в Апокалипсисе. В 1310 году его объявили еретиком и заточили в темницу. Причем сделал это рыцарь Гийом де Ногаре, хорошо известный по разгрому ордена тамплиеров. В XVII веке филадельфы вновь появляются в Англии, а спустя столетие - во Франции, где это название присвоила себе одна из масонских лож.
Самые знатные и благородные
Приблизительно в то же время на историческую сцену вышли баварские иллюминаты Вейсхаупта. Первые неофиты были приняты в этот орден 1 мая 1776 года. Первоначально в орден входило всего пять человек, но уже через три года он имел четыре отделения в баварских городах. К середине 1782 года орден насчитывал приблизительно 300, а еще спустя два года - свыше 650 человек. К тому моменту иллюминаты имели свои отделения в целом ряде германских государств, а также в Польше, Австро-Венгрии, Голландии, Дании, Швеции, Италии, Испании, Швейцарии, Франции и России.
Вся верхушка ордена носила звучные псевдонимы. Сам Вейсхаупт прозывался Спартаком, барон Книгге - Фило, профессор Вестенридер был известен среди посвященных как Пифагор, книготорговец Никола - Лукиан, каноник Гертель - Марий, а стряпчий Цвакк - Катон. Если Адам Вейсхаупт предпочитал вербовать в орден наиболее одаренных юношей из числа своих студентов, то барон Книгге стал «охотиться» главным образом за самыми знатными, учеными и благородными людьми. Ему удалось вовлечь в орден большое число лиц и пробудить в них самые горячие упования на реформирование господствовавшего тогда государственного строя. В число баварских иллюминатов вошли герцоги Эрнест II Готский, Карл Август Веймарский, Фердинанд Браун-швейгский, князь Нейвид, целый ряд геттингенских профессоров и даже всемирно известный педагог Песталоцци. В конечном итоге численность ордена достигла почти 2000 человек.
Разгром
Однако в 1784-86 гг. баварские иллюминаты были разгромлены. Курфюрст издал указ, запрещавший деятельность всяких тайных обществ. Франкмасоны и иллюминаты немедленно закрыли свои храмы. После чего в дело вступила полиция. При обысках в домах руководителей ордена было найдено много любопытнейших бумаг. В частности, удалось выяснить, что орден тайно финансировался кланом Ротшильдов.
Вообще-то, складывается впечатление, что стремительное распространение влияния баварских иллюминатов вряд ли базировалось лишь на харизматических способностях Адама Вейсхаупта и барона Книгге. Скорее всего, оно было хорошо подготовлено деятельностью масонов и тайными финансовыми операциями. И здесь, похоже, начинается самое интересное.

Само слово «иллюминаты» переводится с латыни как «просветленные». Это детально проработанная организация, включающая в себя людей, занимающих очень высокие посты. Они чрезвычайно богаты и стоят над законами государств. В перечень тринадцати самых могущественных иллюминатов входят семьи Астор, Бунди, Коллинз, Дю Понт, Фримэн, Кеннеди, Ли, Онассис, Рокфеллер, Ротшильд, Рассел, Ван Дуйн и Меровинг. Под Меровингами в данном случае подразумеваются все европейские королевские семьи. С этой вершиной тесно связаны еще четыре семейства: Рейнольде, Дисней, Круп и Мак Дональд. Конечной целью иллюминатов является создание единого мирового правительства и нового мирового порядка. В этом они чрезвычайно близки к влиятельному американо-британскому тайному обществу «Комитет 300», которое, скорее всего, надлежит рассматривать как составную часть более обширной иллюминатской системы. Как часть таковой, очевидно, следует воспринимать и законспирированную масонскую верхушку, а также находящийся под контролем Меровингов «Приорат Сиона».
